One Hundred Years Later: Stern-Gerlach Experiment and Dimension Witnesses

چکیده
Inspired by the one-hundredth anniversary of seminal works Stern and Gerlach, our contribution is a proposal how to use their famous experiment in more contemporary perspective. Our main idea re-cast modern language prepare-and-measure scenarios. By doing so, it possible connect geometric algebraic aspects space states with physical space. We also discuss simulations SG as well some experimental properties revealed at statistical level. Merging perspective paradigmatic experiment, we hope this paper can serve an entry door for quantum information theory the.

Spin and the Stern - Gerlach Experiment
The word “quantum” means a single share or portion. In quantum mechanics, this means that energy comes in discrete chunks, or quanta, rather than a continuous flow. But it also means that particles have other properties that are discrete in a way that’s deeply counterintuitive. Today I want to tell you about one such property, called spin, and the experiment that discovered it: the Stern-Gerlac...
متن کاملStern-Gerlach Experiment and Bohm Limit
Stern-Gerlach experiment is a paradigm of measurement theory in quantum mechanics. Notwithstanding several analysis given in literature, no clear understanding of the apparent collapse has been given so far. Indeed, one can imagine a Stern-Gerlach device where all environmental effects are removed and ask the question on how the measurement goes on. In this letter we will prove that a the Stern...
متن کاملWord deafness: one hundred years later.
Since its original description the diagnosis of word deafness has been greatly expanded. Confusion has arisen with regard to the usage of the related terms pure word deafness, auditory agnosia, and cortical deafness. Three new cases of word deafness are presented including one case with CT and necropsy correlation. These cases are compared with 34 previously reported cases of various cortical a...
متن کاملA Stern-Gerlach experiment for slow light
Electromagnetically induced transparency allows for light transmission through dense atomic media by means of quantum interference1. Media exhibiting electromagnetically induced transparency have very interesting properties, such as extremely slow group velocities2-4. Associated with the slow light propagation are quasiparticles, the so-called dark polaritons, which are mixtures of a photonic a...
متن کاملA Quantum Description of the Stern-Gerlach Experiment
A detailed analysis of the classic Stern–Gerlach experiment is presented. An analytical simple solution is presented for the quantum description of the translational and spin dynamics of a silver atom in a magnetic field with a gradient along a single z-direction. This description is then used to obtain an approximate quantum description of the more realistic case with a magnetic field gradient...
